Horse Stable Model for a School Project
Turn an empty shoebox into a little horse stable and paddock, with five paper horses, country fences, flowers and a windmill. Print the illustrated pieces, cut them out and build a three-dimensional scene together.
A hands-on starting point for an EVS activity about domestic animals and their homes, or a relaxed family craft afternoon.

A Creative Horse Project for School and Home
Looking for an animal shelter model or something practical to make for holiday homework? The stable, scenery and paper animals are already illustrated, so you can spend your time cutting, folding and building instead of drawing every piece from scratch.
For an EVS assignment in Class 3, 4 or 5, use the display to introduce domestic animals, the shelter people provide and everyday animal care. Ask your teacher whether a printable model suits the assignment. This is a creative paper scene, not a model of a particular Indian farm or a prescribed curriculum resource.
At home, share the tasks: an adult can help with smaller cuts while children arrange the horses, choose where the fences go and tell a story about their stable. It also works as a homeschool craft or a screen-free weekend activity.
Print, Cut and Build Your Horse Diorama
Print the PDF and identify the backgrounds, stable, horses and accessories. Regular printer paper works well.
Cut and Fold
Cut around the pieces and keep their glue tabs. Fold the tabs before applying glue; adults can help with small details.
Build and Arrange
Fit the landscape inside your shoebox, assemble the stable and arrange the fences and horses to give the scene depth.

Start with the Shoebox Landscape
The upright box walls form the countryside behind the stable, while the base becomes a grassy paddock. Try the background pieces in place before gluing. Trim or overlap them to fit the box you have, keeping the landscape aligned across the corners.
No special shoebox size is required. A larger box gives you more room to arrange the horses and accessories. Let the background glue dry before adding the standing pieces.

Build the Stable and Add the Small Details
Layered paper pieces bring the stable forward from the backdrop. The open doors reveal the illustrated interior; fences and flowers frame the paddock without hiding the horses.

Turn the Model into an EVS Presentation
After building, children can add their own labels and practise a short explanation in their own words. Start with these questions:
- What is the difference between a sheltered stable and an outdoor paddock?
- Which parts of your scene represent shelter, water and space for the horses?
- What care would a real horse need each day?
- How did you turn flat printed sheets into a 3D model?
These are extra learning ideas for your school presentation, not additional worksheets in the PDF. You could make your own labels for “stable”, “horse”, “fence” and “water”, then describe the model to a family member before taking it to class.
Look Around the Finished Horse Stable
Use these views as inspiration, then choose your own arrangement. Keeping a little space between the horses makes each one easier to see.

Questions Before You Begin
Is this a finished horse stable?
No. You purchase a printable PDF and build the paper diorama yourself. No physical product is delivered.
Can we use normal printer paper?
Yes. Regular printer paper works well. Thicker paper or card backing can make some standing pieces firmer.
Can this be used for holiday homework?
It can suit a creative assignment about animals, their homes or model making. Check the teacher’s instructions first and let your child take part in the cutting, arrangement and explanation.
Is this only for school?
No. Horse-loving children can make it as a family activity or use the finished scene for storytelling. Small toy horses can be added if their size suits your box.
